RCC administrator distributes food aid, wheelchairs

RAJSHAHI, July 17, 2026 (BSS) - Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton today distributed food items and wheelchairs among ultra-poor people and persons with disabilities at a programme organised by the Lifat Protibondhi Foundation Cooperative Society.

The distribution programme was held at the Shopner Bagan Community Center adjacent to Shaheed Zia Shishu Park in Rajshahi city, where the RCC administrator attended as the chief guest.

More than 400 ultra-poor people and persons with disabilities received food assistance and wheelchairs during the event.

Addressing the gathering, Mahfuzur Rahman said they are working to implement the directives of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and reaffirmed the RCC's commitment to the welfare of underprivileged communities.

He said the city corporation would continue supporting humanitarian initiatives and assured all-out cooperation in establishing a specialised hospital for persons with disabilities in Rajshahi.

The RCC administrator also urged people to participate in the Prime Minister's tree plantation campaign by planting at least one sapling each to help achieve the target of planting 25 crore trees over the next five years.

He further said the city corporation is working to complete all unfinished development projects in Rajshahi metropolis at the earliest and improve civic services for residents.

The programme was chaired by Lifat Foundation Chairman Riaz Shikder. Shah Makhdum Thana BNP Member Secretary Nasim Khan spoke as the keynote speaker.

Among others, Rajshahi Mahanagar Jubo Dal Convener Shariful Islam Johnny and Protibondhi Swanirvar Sangstha President Mominul Islam also addressed the programme.

Leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies, along with local dignitaries and people from different walks of life attended the event.
