JASHORE, July 21, 2026 (BSS) - A barber was killed after being hit by a truck in Chaugachha upazila of the district last night.

The deceased was identified as Kesto Das, 40, son of Pulin Das of Borokhanpur village under Narayanpur union in Chaugachha upazila.

According to sources, the accident occurred while Kesto was returning home closing his barber shop on his bicycle after at Chandpara Bazar. As he reached in front of GCB Ideal College on the Chaugachha-Maheshpur road, a speeding truck struck his bicycle from behind.

Local residents rescued Kesto Das and took him to Chaugachha Upazila Health Complex. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to the 250-bed Jashore General Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chaugachha Police Station Mamunur Rashid confirmed the matter.

The truck involved in the accident had been seized, OC said.

He added that legal proceedings are underway.
