DHAKA, July 30, 2025 (BSS) - Fact-checking platform, BanglaFact, operated by the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB), has identified a misleading news on health adviser's speech regarding the tragedy of Milestone School and College, by a news portal named 'Barta Bazar'.

According to a BanglaFact investigation report, Health and Family Welfare Adviser Nurjahan Begum participated at a programme titled 'July Commemoration' at the Shaheed Abu Sayed International Convention Center at Shahbag in the city on Monday.

Health workers involved in the service of injured July warriors took part at the programme.

Talking to reporters at the programme, Nurjahan Begum talked on several issues, including the fire at a restaurant in Nimtali or Bailey Road in the city.

At that time, she said, "I, you, the state, those who set up restaurants or build educational institutions, and those who give permission are all responsible for this."

BanglaFact investigation team found that she did not give this statement in the context of Milestone School and College. Actually she made such comments about all kinds of unsafe establishments.

BanglaFact team mentioned that the health adviser did not say anything like 'every citizen is responsible for the accident at Milestone School'. But 'Barta Bazar' is circulating this information and creating confusion.

BanglaFact team also observed that the photocard and headline given by the news portal named 'Barta Bazar' and the adviser's statement in the news are clearly a distortion of the original statement.
