Construction of Savar Sports Complex halted due to irregularities : Advisor

SAVAR, Jan 25, 2025 (BSS): The construction of a sports complex under construction for people with special needs in Savar has been stopped due to non-compliance with rules and regulations, said Sharmeen S Murshid, adviser to the social welfare ministry.

The adviser said about the various irregularities of Abdullah Al Mamun, project director of the Sports complex for People with special needs and the government is taking action wherever it finds corruption, so the work under construction in Savar has also been stopped.

She made this statement while inaugurating the 18th National Youth Conference 2025, organized by Youth Ending Hunger Bangladesh, today at Gonoshasthaya Kendra in Baishmail, Savar.

She also stated that the closure of the project is a big punishment, and many such projects have already been stopped.

She further added that those will be stopped where  corruption would be found.

Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder of Shushashoner Jonno Nagorik (SHUJAN) and head of the electoral reform commission, interim country director of The Hunger Project Bangladesh Prashant Tripura and many others were present on the occasion.

About 800 young people from different parts of the country participated in the conference.
