Ansar, Police reach semi-final

DHAKA, Aug 18, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh Ansar and Bangladesh Police reached semi-final as the first phase of the Ruchi 36th National Women's Handball competition concluded at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the capital today (Monday).

After the conclusion of the first phase, Ansar and Police maintained their all-win record from their respective group matches. 

From group A, Ansar secured nine points from three matches while Bangladesh Police bagged 12 points from four matches from group B.

Meanwhile, in the day's matches, Bangladesh Police beat Madaripur District Sports Association (DSA) by 39-7 goals after leading the first half by 17-4 goals while Bangladesh Ansar defeated Faridpur DSA by 53-3 goals after dominating the first half by 25-4 goals.

In the day's other match, Border Guard Bangladesh outclassed Dinajpur DSA by 30-8 goals after dominating the first half by 7-6 goals. 
 
The second phase of the competition begins Wednesday (Aug 20). A total of nine teams, split into two groups, will take part in the second phase.

The second phase's teams are Jamalpur, Naogaon, Jahangirnagar University, Panchagarh, Narail, Jashore, Dhaka, Bogura and Gopalganj DSAs.

After the second phase, the top four teams of the two rounds will play semi-finals on August 24 while the final is slated for August 25.
