LIMA, April 13, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - Right?wing presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori claimed Peru's first-round vote as a victory over the leftist "enemy" on Monday, as she was tipped to advance to a second-round runoff.
Exit polls and partial counts showed the 50-year-old daughter of disgraced former president Alberto Fujimori ahead, but well short of the 50 percent needed to win outright.
There was a statistical tie for second place and a spot in the two-person runoff, but with far-right candidate Rafael "Porky" Lopez Aliaga also polling strongly.
