
DHAKA, Apr 13, 2026 (BSS)- Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has drawn a multi-layered security plan across the country to ensure safe and festive celebration of Pahela Boishakh 1433.
Additional Inspector General of RAB Ahsan Habib Palash said this after visiting security arrangement of Pahela Boishakh celebration at Ramna Batmul in the capital today.
Like previous years the elite force has taken all necessary measures to maintain law and order during the Bengali New Year celebrations, he said.
“RAB has been ensuring security at major national and cultural events since its inception. This year, we are fully prepared to provide a safe and secure environment for all,” the RAB official said adding to ensure overall security all 15 RAB battalions have been deployed nationwide.
A total of 308 patrol teams, including 181 pickup patrols and 127 motorcycle patrol units, will operate across the country.
“Ensuring a safe celebration is a shared responsibility. We seek the cooperation of all citizens to uphold the spirit of Pahela Boishakh,” he said.
In addition, plainclothes personnel will remain engaged in intelligence surveillance to detect and prevent any suspicious activities until the celebrations are over.
Special security arrangements have been put in place at major celebration points in the capital, including TSC, Shahbagh, Suhrawardy Udyan, Rabindra Sarobar, Hatirjheel, Manik Mia Avenue, Shishu Academy, and Ramna Batamul- where large gatherings are expected.
Check posts, observation posts, and mobile patrol units have been deployed in those areas, while intelligence surveillance has been strengthened to prevent any group from creating disorder.
RAB’s bomb disposal unit and dog squad have already conducted sweeping operations at key locations and will remain on high alert throughout the festivities.
These specialized units are fully prepared to respond immediately to any potential threats or emergencies. To ensure comprehensive security, RAB has activated control rooms across the country.
Security measures include regular patrol and motorcycle patrol, CCTV monitoring, standby reserve forces for rapid response. Special commando teams of the force will remain ready to face any sabotage attempt or attack.
All RAB battalions are working in close coordination with local administration, public representatives, and other law enforcement agencies.
Central control room at RAB headquarters will continuously monitor and coordinate security operations.
At the same time, RAB’s cyber monitoring team is actively working to prevent the spread of rumors, provocative content, and misinformation on digital platforms.
Any attempt to disrupt peaceful environment through sabotage or misinformation will be swiftly identified and dealt with, he said.
Considering the large number of crowd, RAB has taken special measures to prevent harassment, including eve-teasing and sexual harassment, particularly targeting women.
Citizens have been urged to report any such incidents promptly to on-duty RAB members in their area for immediate assistance.
RAB has called on citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to maintain a peaceful and festive environment, hoping that like past this year’s Pahela Boishakh will be celebrated nationwide with much enthusiasm.
