Speaker forms 5-member probe body to investigate alleged irregularities in JS

DHAKA, April 21, 2026 (BSS) - Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, has constituted a five-member high-powered committee to investigate the alleged irregularities at Parliament highlighted in a recent media report.

The report titled “Massive Irregularities (Horiloot) in Parliament Procurement” published in the Daily Bangladesh Pratidin and several online portals on April 19.

As the report came to the notice of the highest authority of the Parliament, the Speaker today formed the probe committee to look into the matter, said a press release of the Parliament Secretariat.

The committee is headed by Whip and Member of Parliament A.B.M. Ashraf Uddin (Nizan) (Laxmipur-4) as convener. The other members are MPs Lutfullahel Mazed (Mymensingh-8), Md. Saiful Alam (Dhaka-12), Humam Quader Chowdhury (Chattogram-7) and Md. Abul Hasnat (Cumilla-4).

The committee has been asked to submit its investigation report within seven days.
