
SANGSAD BHABAN, June 23, 2026 (BSS) – Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury today informed Parliament that more than 12 lakh aspiring overseas workers are being provided training every year to enhance their skills and make them employment-ready.
He said the majority of the trainees are enrolled in the Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) Course for migrant workers.
The minister said these while replying to a written question tabled by opposition member Md. Moktar Ali of Jashore-6 constituency in the Jatiya Sangsad today.
Ariful Haque Chowdhury said that under the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET), which operates under the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, skill development training is being conducted through a nationwide network of 110 training institutions, including 104 Technical Training Centres (TTCs) and six Institutes of Marine Technology (IMTs).
He added that training is being offered in 55 short-term and long-term trades and courses to improve the skills of prospective migrant workers and prepare them for overseas employment opportunities.
