Former DGFI official remanded over banned BCL procession

DHAKA, April 21, 2026 (BSS) – A court here today placed former Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) official Major (retd) Manjil Haider Chowdhury on a five-day remand in a case lodged under The Anti-Terrorism Act over flash procession by banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Awami League in the capital in 2025.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Islam Zunayed passed the order as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to place him on a seven-day remand each.

According to the case documents, leaders and activists of banned BCL and Awami League brought out a flash procession in front of Rupayan Tower in Bangla Motor area on September 12, 2025. They chanted different anti-government and anti-state slogans. Police later filed the case under The Anti-Terrorism Act.
