Court orders seizure of tax files of CAAB official's wife

DHAKA, May 19, 2026 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today ordered the seizure of tax records of Salma Begum, wife of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) cartographer Md Abdus Sobhan, in connection with graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) 's plea.

In the petition, it was stated that the accused, Salma and her husband, Md Abdul Sobhan acquired and possessed assets worth Taka 46.50 lakh beyond their known sources of income. They are also accused of concealing assets worth Taka 19.32 lakh with dishonest intent, for which the Anti-Corruption Commission has filed a case.

The petition further said that, for the sake of a fair investigation, it is essential to seize Salma's income tax records.

The same court on April 20, 2026, ordered the seizure of the tax records of Md Abdus Sobhan.
