Doctor in Jamalpur fined for not appearing in court to give deposition in rape case

JAMALPUR, July 1, 2026 (BSS)- A court here today convicted a doctor for not giving deposition in a rape case after repeated summons.

Woman and Child repression prevention tribunal -1, Muhammad Abdur Rahim fined  doctor Sanjida Islam Tk 250 under section 485 A of the code of criminal procedure 1898. 

The court ordered her to pay the amount instantly on July 1 and in default she will serve simple imprisonment for six months.

Public Prosecutor of the tribunal Advocate Md Fazlul Haque said Dr Sanjida Islam submitted a medical report of a rape case filed in Bakshiganj police station on May 26, 2025.

 He said out of eight accused of the case one in jail and others were present in court. He said despite of issuing summons, she didn't respond to the court order for deposition.

The court also issued a showcase notice on June 29,2026 and ordered her appearing to the court for deposition on July 1, 2026.

As she flouted the order, the court took the punitive step, he added.
