DHAKA, May 21, 2025 (BSS) - Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah today said the Election Commission (EC) is discharging its responsibilities with utmost sincerity and impartiality.

"The Election Commission will continue to perform its duties in an impartial manner," the commissioner told reporters after a meeting of the EC, chaired by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin, at Nirbachan Bhaban in the city's Agargaon area.

Replying to a query about a movement by the National Citizen Party (NCP), Sanaullah said, "We do not want to make any comment on political activities. The Commission does not have the authority to decide which election-national or local government-will be held first. That decision lies with the government, not the Election Commission. Our duty is only to conduct the elections."

The commission reviewed all relevant electoral laws and regulations during the meeting, he mentioned, adding that the two-hour session was attended by all four election commissioners, the EC secretary, and other relevant officials.
