KHULNA, Nov 10, 2025 (BSS) - A fisherman, Hafizul, 35, was abducted on Monday
by the notorious 'Sumon Bahini' from the Loitrokhali area of Dublarchar in
the Sundarbans. The abductors have demanded a ransom, causing panic among
local fishing communities.

Hafizul, from Boga village under Kachua upazila in Bagerhat, had gone fishing
with others from Majherkella late Sunday night. The robbers arrived in a
trawler, forcibly took him, and handed mobile numbers to the trawler's
skipper to contact them regarding the ransom.

Milton Roy, forest ranger and officer-in-charge of the Dubla Forest Patrol
Camp, confirmed the abduction, saying Hafizul had an official fishing permit.
The Coast Guard has been informed, and a joint operation will be launched to
rescue him and curb forest robber activities in the region.
