DHAKA, June 1, 2025 (BSS) -The strong inflow of remittances continued its
dominating trend in May, with expatriates sending around US$2.97 billion in
the month.

The surge comes ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, as expatriate Bangladeshis sent
significant amounts to support families during the festive season.

The all-time highest monthly remittance was recorded just two months earlier,
in March 2025, ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, when remittances reached $3.29 billion.

According to the Bangladesh Bank, remittances in May 2024 stood at $2.25
billion. This year's May figure represents a sharp 31.7% increase year-on-
year.

Data from the central bank also showed that total remittances for the first
11 months of the current fiscal year (July-May) amounted to $27.51 billion -
28.7% higher than the $21.37 billion received during the same period in the
previous fiscal year.
