DHAKA, Apr 6, 2026 (BSS) - Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider paid a courtesy call on Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon today at his ministry office.

Both sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in media, culture, and education during the meeting, according to a press release of the ministry.

At the outset of the meeting, the High Commissioner congratulated Swapon on assuming his new role.

The Information Minister highlighted that the rapid expansion of new media globally has opened up fresh opportunities for collaboration between Bangladesh and Pakistan.

He expressed optimism that new avenues of cooperation in the media sector would emerge based on shared interests.

Both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing people-to-people contact, noting that stronger engagement between citizens would contribute to deeper bilateral ties.

The discussion also focused on cultural exchanges, including the potential for mutual visits by artists and performers, as well as opportunities for joint productions.

In addition, they explored the expansion of student exchange programs, particularly in science-based education, under the Pakistan-Bangladesh “Knowledge Corridor” initiative.

The two sides agreed to further strengthen existing cooperation between Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and Pakistan’s state-run news agency, Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).

During the meeting, the High Commissioner invited the Information Minister to visit Pakistan, expressing hope that such a visit would further reinforce bilateral relations between the two countries.
