Home Minister calls for stronger global support for Rohingya repatriation

DHAKA, July 8, 2026 (BSS) - Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has called for sustained and stronger international support to ensure the safe, voluntary and dignified repatriation of Rohingya refugees to their homeland in Myanmar.

"Resolving the Rohingya crisis requires sustained and coordinated support from the international community to facilitate the refugees' safe return to Myanmar," he said.

The call came during a bilateral meeting with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary A. DiCarlo, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on Tuesday (July 7, New York time), according to a Home Ministry press release received here today.

During the meeting, the Home Minister highlighted Bangladesh's priorities in global peacekeeping and peacebuilding, reaffirming the country's commitment to promoting international peace and stability.

DiCarlo commended Bangladesh's constructive and responsible role at the United Nations and praised its continued contributions to international peace, security and stability. 

She also appreciated Bangladesh's longstanding commitment to global peacebuilding initiatives.
