Private hospital fined Tk 150,000 in Narsingdi for operating without renewed licence

NARSINGDI, July 8, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court today fined a private hospital and diagnostic centre in Narsingdi sadar upazila Tk 150,000 for operating without renewing its licence and for other irregularities.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Asma Jahan Sarkar carried out the drive at Green Life (Pvt.) Hospital and Diagnostic Centre in the Puratan Kandapara area of Narsingdi Municipality.

According to the mobile court, the hospital had been operating without a renewed licence and was involved in several other irregularities. It was fined under the relevant provisions of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009. The fine was realised on the spot and deposited into the government treasury.

During the operation, the hospital's X-ray unit was sealed, and the authorities were directed to renew the licence and rectify all identified irregularities by July 31. The hospital authorities also submitted a written undertaking to comply with the directives.

Narsingdi Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Khalil Qaiser Khokon conducted the prosecution. Medical Officer Dr Sanjoy Kumar Saha and the pathologist of Narsingdi Sadar Hospital were also present during the drive.
