ICT Prosecutor Sylvia’s appointment revoked

DHAKA, March 28, 2025 (BSS) – The government has cancelled the appointment of lawyer Afroze Parveen Sylvia as a new prosecutor for the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT).
 
Her appointment was cancelled in an office order, signed by deputy solicitor (GP-PP) of the Law and Justice Division Sana Md Mahruf Hossain, on Thursday.

This order will come into effect immediately, the office order added.

Sylvia and three other lawyers were appointed as prosecutors for the ICT on Thursday.

The decision for cancelation of Sylvia’s appointment was taken on the same day as there were allegations of her affiliation with Awami League.
