Democracy is yet to be regained: Mirza Fakhrul

THAKURGAON, March 28, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said the nation has become free following the ouster of deposed premier Sheikh Hasina through massive sacrifices but democracy is yet to be achieved.

He said these while speaking as the chief guest on virtual platform at an Iftar Mahfil organized by the Ruhia Thana Swechchhasebak Dal at Ruhia High School in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila here.

About the elections, Fakhrul underscored the need for maintaining unity urging party men to prepare for the elections together to gain people’s trust and confidence.

He urged party leaders and workers to reach out to people as much as possible as BNP believes people are the main strength of the party.

Party’s Rangpur divisional monitoring team vice president Dr. Mofidul Alam Khan, central committee leader Zakir Hossain, district BNP joint general secretary Poygam Ali, Thakurgaon Swechchhsebak Dal convener Masudul Islam and member secretary Kamruzzaman also spoke.

Ruhia Thana Swechchhasebak Dal president Mohammad Belal Hossain chaired the function moderated by general secretary Zillur Rahman.
