Security beefed up in the city on Eid-ul-Fitr

DHAKA, March 30, 2025 (BSS) – Security measures in the city and around the National Eidgah has beeb beefed up marking the holy Eid-ul-Fitr tomorrow. 

“Five-tier security arrangements have been taken at the National Eidgah ground and its surrounding areas,” DMP commissioner SM Sazzat Ali told journalists after inspecting the security arrangements at National Eidgah today.

“However, there is no security risk centering on this year’s Eid,” he said.

Like other countries in this region, the holy Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Bangladesh with festive and religious fervor tomorrow.

The main Eid congregation will be held at the National Eidgah at 8:30 am where about 35,000 devotees can offer their prayers at a time.

Strict security arrangements have been taken to ensure safety of the city dwellers, DMP commissioner said.

A comprehensive security plan has been adopted by the DMP for all Eid congregations to be held at the National Eidgah, Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and all other places in Dhaka, he said.

This year, a total of 1,739 Eid congregations, including 111 in different Eidgahs and 1,577 in mosques will be held in Dhaka metropolis.

The National Eidgah ground has been brought under CCTV cameras. DMP Bomb Squad and SWAT units will always remain vigilant.
There will be a specific parking area for the devotees arriving at the National Eidgah ground.

There will be diversions at Zero Point, Government Employees Hospital, Doel Chattar, the alley next to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building, UBL crossing, Control Room Gap and Matsyabhaban crossing.

The DMP has requested everyone to follow the traffic instructions.

DMP Additional Police Commissioner and Chief of Detective Branch (DB) Rezaul Karim Mallick, Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md. Nazrul Islam, Additional Police Commissioner (CTTC) Md. Masud Karim and other senior officials were present.
