Dinajpur Gor-e-Shahid Boro Maidan to host largest Eid Jamaat at 8:30am

DINAJPUR, March 30, 2025 (BSS) - The largest Eid jamaat (congregation) in the country will be held at Gor-e-Shahid Boro Eidgah Maidan here in the district at 8:30am tomorrow on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

The district administration has taken extensive preparations to host the largest Muslim festival peacefully.

As part of beautification works, the Eidgah Maidan has been adorned with vibrant colors to give the grand gathering a festive ambiance.

It is expected that around 3.5 to 4 lakh devotees will offer Eid prayers at the largest Eidgah this year.

In a bid to ensure the safety and security of worshipers, the district administration has taken a comprehensive four-tier security system in and around the Eidgah. Plainclothes police personnel will be deployed throughout the area.

In addition to the watch tower to monitor security, metal detectors, archways, CCTV cameras have been set up.

Parking facilities will be available at nearby Station Club, Circuit House, Shishu Academy and District Public Library.

There will have multiple entries on four sides at the Eidgah Maidan while it will also feature ablution facilities and mobile toilets for devotees.

In addition to bus services from other upazilas, two special trains have been arranged to facilitate influx of devotees to the Eidgah Maidan.

This largest Eidgah in the country has two towering minarets of 60 feet each on both sides amidst 52 domes of 20 feet each. The height of the main minaret is 55 feet.

The height of the arch in which the Khatib will deliver the sermon is 50 feet. The Eidgah minar has been constructed on the west side of the country's largest historical cemetery, Shaheed Maidan. The height of the two gates is 30 feet.
