DHAKA, Mar 30, 2025 (BSS) – Director General of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) AKM Shahidur Rahman said strict steps have been taken to strengthen security arrangements so that Eid celebrating people can travel and enjoy the Eid vacation safely.

“People are in a rush to ancestral villages to enjoy Eid . . . Besides, a large number of women and children of the country visit to different entertainment centers and security arrangements have been intensified in this connection,” he said while speaking at a press conference on the security arrangement of the Eid congregation (jamaat) at the National Eidgah today.

He said the RAB is keeping a vigilant eye on the situation to prevent theft or robbery in empty houses during the Eid holidays in major cities of the country, including Dhaka.

AKM Shahidur Rahman said security measures have also been taken since the beginning of the month of Ramadan, focusing on Eid-ul-Fitr, the greatest religious festival of the Muslims.

“At the beginning of the month of Ramadan, sales witness a rose in the markets and a lot of money is transacted. As a result, crimes like robbery and extortion have increased,” he added.

“So, we have been working to control such crimes since the beginning of the month of Ramadan. And crimes like robbery and extortion have come under some control now,” the RAB DG added.

He also underscored the need for performing all respective duties with more caution in three days - before Eid, on Eid day and the day after Eid.
