DINAJPUR, March 31, 2025 (BSS) - The Eid jamaat (congregation) was held in the country's largest Gor-e-Shahid Boro Eidgah Maidan at 9am today on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

The Eidgah on about 23 acres of land was filled with the devotees before the scheduled time of the Eid Jamaat while Muslim devotees from across the country joined the Eid congregation here.

Noted Islamic scholar Hafez Mawlana Mahfuzur Rahman conducted the Eid prayers.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Rafiqul Islam and Superintendent of Police Marufat Hossain along with people from all classes and professions, including political leaders and cultural personalities joined the congregation.
 
Earlier, district administration took extensive preparations to host the largest Muslim festival peacefully.

As part of beautification works, the Eidgah Maidan has been adorned with vibrant colors to give the grand gathering a festive ambiance.

In a bid to ensure the safety and security of worshipers, the district administration took a comprehensive four-tier security system in and around the Eidgah. Plainclothes police personnel performed duty throughout the area.

In addition to the watch tower to monitor security, metal detectors, archways, CCTV cameras have been set up.

In addition to bus services from other upazilas, two special trains were arranged to facilitate influx of devotees to the Eidgah Maidan.

This largest Eidgah Maidan in the country has two towering minarets of 60 feet each on both sides amidst 52 domes of 20 feet each. The height of the main minaret is 55 feet.
