FSCD celebrates International Firefighters’ Day 2025

DHAKA, May 4, 2025 (BSS) - The Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) today celebrated the International Firefighters’ Day (IFFD) 2025 in a befitting manner aimed at honouring the firefighters for their service globally. 

To celebrate the day, a discussion was held today at the FSCD Headquarters at Kazi Alauddin Road, Fulbaria here. 

Forty five officers and firefighters of various ranks, selected from all over the country for their excellence and bravery in firefighting and rescue work, were awarded at the function. 

A minute of silence was observed in memory of all the firefighters of the world who died during performing duty.

Speaking on the occasion, Director General of the FSCD Brigadier General Muhammad Jahed Kamal said that the FSCD has established itself as a symbol of trust as a service-oriented organization that is the first to respond to any disaster and calamity. 

The DG later handed over awards that included certificate, crest of honor and cash to 45 officers and employees in recognition of their outstanding works.  

 FSCD Director (Operations and Maintenance) Lt. Col. Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury gave the address of welcome. 
Principal of the Fire Service Training Complex Md. Ohidul Islam delivered a speech at the event while FSCD’s Tkahurgaon district Inspector Md Mozammel Haque expressed his feeling on behalf of the awardees. 

 Director (Administration and Finance) Mohammad Mozammel Haque, , Director (Training . Planning and Development), Lt. Col. MA Azad Anwar, deputy directors and officers and employees of various ranks were present.

International Firefighters' Day (IFFD) is observed on May 4 elsewhere across the globe to remember firefighters who lost their lives during service and to commemorate firefighters killed in the September 11 attacks.
