Govt. appoints new navy officer as Sergeant at Arms in JS

DHAKA, May 05, 2025 (BSS) - The government has appointed navy’s Commodore M Rashed Sattar as the new Sergeant at Arms in Jatiya Sangsad (JS) transferring his predecessor Commodore Sabbir Ahmed Khan to the Armed Forces Division for subsequent reattachment in the navy, an official press release said today.

According to the public administration ministry release the order would be issued with immediate effect.

The Sergeant at Arms is an official responsible for maintaining order, security, and protocol within the parliamentary building, especially during sessions while they also perform ceremonial duties.

A navy commodore, equivalent to army’s brigadier general, is usually entrusted with the charge on deputation in the Jatiya Sangsad.
