Met office forecasts light to moderate rain in parts of country

DHAKA, May 20, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorology Department (BMD) today forecasted that light to moderate rain or thundershowers likely to occur at different parts of the country for the next 24 hours begins from this morning.

"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions and at one or two places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions", said the forecast begins from 9am today.

Trough of low lies over West Bengal to North Bay across Southwestern part of Bangladesh.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Country's maximum temperature on Monday was recorded 36.2 degrees celsius at Jashore and minimum temperature today was recorded 21.6 degrees celsius at Sayedpur.

Country's maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded 118 millimeters (mm) at Rangpur.

Today's sunset is at 06-37 PM and tomorrow's sunrise 05-13 AM in the capital.
