Bangladesh Army arrests 10 suspected terrorists in Dhaka

DHAKA, May 20, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Army arrested 10 alleged terrorists along with illegal arms and ammunition during an anti-terror drive in the capital's Matikata area in the early hours of today.

The special operation was conducted by 86 Independent Signal Brigade's Bhashantek Army Camp from 2am, said a release from the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR).

During the drive, the army team recovered three automatic pistols, one revolver, 28 rounds of ammunition, and other items.

The arrested individuals are reportedly active members of the notorious 'Hitlu Babu Gang', the ISPR said.

Acting on a tip-off, members of the Bhashantek army camp had been monitoring the group's activities for some time. The drive was launched based on verified intelligence, the release added.

The ISPR said the Bangladesh Army remains committed to ensuring public safety and maintaining law and order.

The army has also urged the public to report any suspicious or criminal activity to the nearest army camp or law enforcement agencies, the release added.
