HC rules for live telecast of important case hearings

DHAKA, May 20, 2025 (BSS) - The High Court (HC) today issued a rule asking the concerned authorities to explain why steps should not be taken to live telecast hearings of cases that are of public and constitutional importance.

A High Court division bench of Justice Md. Habibul Gani and Justice Syed Mohammed Tazrul Hossain passed the order following a hearing on a writ petition filed in this regard.

The court asked Supreme Court Registrar General, Information Secretary and Law Secretary to reply the rule within next four weeks. It also set June 26 for the next hearing and possible further orders.

Advocate Mohammad Shishir Manir moved the plea before the court which was filed by lawyers Saddam Hossain, Mizanun Haque, Abdullah Sadik, Aminul Islam Shakil and Zayed-Bin-Amjad.
