Nine students get Provost's Award at DU

DHAKA, May 29, 2025 (BSS)- Nine students of Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Hall at Dhaka University (DU) on Wednesday received Provost's Award for their outstanding results in undergraduate and postgraduate examinations, as well as for their remarkable achievements in sports.

Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan presented the awards to the students as the chief guest at a ceremony held in the hall auditorium, said a DU press release here today.
 
Among them, six students received the award for achieving the highest CGPA in their Bachelor's (Honors) examinations and two students for securing the highest CGPA in their Master's examinations. Moreover, one student was recognized for his exceptional performance in sports, read the statement.
 
The award-winning students are-- Md. Tohidul Islam (Oceanography), Jahur Ahmed and Mohammad Solaiman (Geology), Md. Ehsanul Hoque Mamun (Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering), Kamruzzaman Asif (Institute of Information Technology), Md. Ishtiak Uddin (Electrical and Electronic Engineering), Piyal Sarker (Pharmaceutical Technology), Md. Aminul Kader Bulbul (Computer Science and Engineering) and Muhammad Azizul Hoque (Microbiology).

The VC congratulated the award winners and said such initiatives play a crucial role in encouraging and inspiring students. 

He emphasized that the university is striving to recognize the talents of its teachers, researchers and students through various programmes.
 
Hall Provost Prof Dr. Muhammad Javed Hossain presided over the event while Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof Dr. Md. Enamul Haq, Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences Prof Dr. Kazi Matin Uddin Ahmed and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof Dr. Upama Kabir were present as special guests.
