DHAKA, May 29, 2025 (BSS)- Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said the Election Commission (EC) will take necessary steps regarding BNP leader Ishraque Hossain’s assumption of office as mayor of DSCC once it officially receives the copy the verdict of Appellate Division.

“We didn’t get the copy of the verdict of the Appellate Division till now. After getting the copy we will examine the legal aspects and will do what we have to do,” he told reporters.

The CEC said this after a meeting with other election commissioners at his office.

The Appellate Division today disposed of a Leave to Appeal with observation.

The Appellate Division’s full bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed passed the order after hearing the arguments of the petitioner’s lawyer and the counsel of Ishraque.
