Doa mahfil held marking martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman

DHAKA, May 29, 2025 (BSS) - A special doa mahfil was held in the city today to commemorate the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman which will be observed in the country tomorrow with due respect.
 
The event took place at Jamia Kurbania Talimia (Dauraye Hadith) Women’s Madrasa and Orphanage at Bauniabadh area of Pallabi here.
 
The program, organized by BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman's wife Dr Zubaida Rahman, began in the morning and continued until Zuhr prayers.
 
It included a Khatam-e-Quran session followed by special prayers seeking eternal peace for the late president.
 
Following the prayer session, food was distributed among the madrasa students as part of the observance.
 
The proclaimer of Bangladesh's independence and pioneer of multi-party democracy, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Bir Uttam, who was also sector commander during the War of Liberation and led the "Z Force" was assassinated on May 30, 1981 by a group of disgruntled army officers at Chittagong Circuit House.
