Four arrested in Moghbazar snatching incident

DHAKA, May 29, 2025 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested four individuals in connection with a recent snatching incident in capital’s Moghbazar area and recovered stolen items including cash and weapons used in the crime.
 
The arrestees were Md Shamim, 24, Md Jibon alias Hridoy, 27, Sohel Rana, 36, and Maqbul Hossain, 25.
 
A team of DB  fromTejgaon Division conducted a raid in the city and surrounding areas early Thursday morning based on intelligence information and detained them,  said a press release.
 
During the operation, the DB team recovered a stolen bag, Tk 9,600 in cash, a mobile phone, two chapatis (locally made machetes), a switch gear and a motorcycle believed to have been used in the robbery.
 
The snatching incident occurred on May 19 in Greenway Goli, Moghbazar.
The incident drew public attention after CCTV footage of the crime went viral on social media platforms, prompting swift action from the police.
 
Following an investigation and review of the footage, the DB launched a targeted operation that led to the arrest of all suspects involved and the recovery of the stolen items.
