DHAKA, May 30, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecast that light to moderate rain, along with temporary gusty wind, is likely to occur in most parts of the country through June 3, followed by a slight rise in temperature from June 2.

A 24-hour BMD forecast, beginning from 9am today, said, "Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at most places over Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, and at many places over Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions, with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions."

The well-marked low over the Northwest Bay and adjoining areas intensified into a depression, then into a deep depression over the same area. It subsequently moved north/northeastwards and weakened into a land depression, now lying over Tangail and adjoining areas. It may continue to move in a northerly direction and gradually weaken, the bulletin added.

The southwest monsoon has advanced up to Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet, Mymensingh, Dhaka, and Rangpur divisions.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country.

The country's maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded at 33.2 degrees Celsius in Tetulia, while today's minimum was 23.8 degrees Celsius in Bandarban.

Meanwhile, the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours, until 6am today, was recorded at 285 millimeters (mm) in Maijdi Court.

The sun will set in Dhaka today at 6:41 pm and rise tomorrow at 5:11 am.
