Joint forces arrest 390 suspects in week-long nationwide drive

DHAKA, May 30, 2025 (BSS) - The joint forces, led by the Bangladesh Army, arrested a total of 390 suspects involved in various crimes while conducting a week-long drive in different parts of the country on May 22 to May 28.

The arrested includes accused murderers, top listed terrorists, smugglers, members of juvenile gangs, snatchers, extortionists and drug peddlers, said an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) release here on Thursday. 

During the drive, the joint forces also recovered 21 illegal firearms, 99 different types of ammunition, 16 cocktails, various illegal drugs, different locally-made weapons, motorbikes, stolen mobile phones, walkie-talkies, passports, counterfeit currencies and cash. it added.

The arrestees were handed over to the concerned police stations for necessary inquiry and completion of legal procedures. 

The Bangladesh Army is carrying out regular patrols and security activities in different parts of the country, aiming to ensure public safety, according to the release.

Besides, the joint forces are conducting round-the-clock surveillance and ensuring security at various temporary cattle markets across the country ahead of Holy Eid-ul-Azha.

Meanwhile, the special army patrol team is ensuring smooth vehicle movement and preventing black marketing of tickets to facilitate easier travel, the release said, adding: "The patrol continues to help maintain overall law and order." 

The army has requested the people to contact their nearest army camp for any suspicious activities, the ISPR release added.
