Dhaka, May 30, 2025 (BSS) - The Local Government Department (LGD) has established a dedicated control room to address the ongoing waterlogging issues here in the capital following heavy and sudden rainfall.

LGD, in a notification issued today, stated that various parts of both Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) have experienced severe waterlogging due to intense downpours. To respond swiftly and effectively to the situation, the department has converted the conference room of the Public Health Engineering Department at Kakrail into a temporary control room.

Engineer Dr. Mohammad Shafiullah Siddiqui Bhuiyan, Administrator of DSCC, and Engineer Faruk Hasan Al-Masud, Administrator of DNCC, have been appointed as in-charges of the control room.

LGD Joint Secretary Mahbuba Irin will oversee waterlogging-related issues in the DSCC area, while Assistant Secretary Firoz Mahmud will be responsible for monitoring the DNCC region.

The notification also directed the assigned officials to visit affected areas in person and take immediate action to mitigate the waterlogging.
