DHAKA, June 1, 2025 (BSS)- Adviser to the Ministries of Social Welfare and Women and Child Affairs, Sharmeen S Murshid, today underscored the urgent need for empathy-driven action to support the country's most vulnerable populations.

"We must come forward with compassion and a sense of responsibility to support those who are suffering and neglected," she urged.

The adviser made the remarks while speaking at a special zoom meeting at her office as the chief guest, organized by the Department of Social Services.

The Zoom session, attended by senior officials and deputy directors from various divisions and districts, focused on strategies to improve the conditions of marginalized communities, especially women and children at the grassroots level.

Addressing senior officials and deputy directors from various divisions, she stated, "All allowances provided for the upliftment of marginalized communities must reach the honest and hard-working individuals who genuinely need them."

The adviser also announced an ambitious plan for nationwide outreach. "We will launch a campaign through my two ministries aimed at the development of neglected and backward communities.

"In the initial phase, we aim to reach approximately 3 million people across the 9 wards of each union," she said.

She added that the initiative would be an ongoing programme, reinforcing her commitment to long-term societal change.

The session was chaired by Dr Md Mohiuddin, secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare.
