15th meeting of Bangladesh China Joint Commission held

DHAKA, June 1, 2025 (BSS) - The 15th meeting of   Bangladesh China Joint Commission was held today in the capital aiming to elevate the bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation to a new strategic height.

Bangladesh delegation was led by Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Adviser of the Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh and the Chinese delegation was led by Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce, Government of the People’s Republic of China.

The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere. Both sides expressed their utmost commitment inelevating the bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation to a new strategic height.

Comprehensive discussion was held on the implementation status regarding the consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus during the lasthigh-level visit in China in March 2025, said an ERD press release.

Both sides also explored how to promote unimpeded trade and achieve balanced development.

Strengthening cooperation on industrial and supply chains, enhancing cooperation on ongoing project management, rationalizing terms and conditions of different Chinese assistances and wider cooperation in different sectors with special focus on jute were also discussed during the meeting.

Both sides emphasized the necessity of fair and balanced trade policies that could benefit both the countries in ensuring sustainable development especially in current economic turbulence and complexities around the world.

A Memorandum of Understanding on ‘Strengthening Economic Cooperation in Industrial and Supply Chains’ was signed between the Government of Bangladesh and
China.

Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Finance Adviser, Bangladesh and Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce, People’s Republic of China signed the MoU on behalf of respective government.

Both sides reiterated to further strengthen the bilateral relations in the coming days. The two parties agreed that the 16th meeting of Joint Commission will be held in a mutually convenient time.
