DHAKA, June 2, 2025 (BSS) - The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) today stayed the chamber court's judgment that scrapped the decision of appointing administrator in mobile banking service provider Nagad Ltd clearing the barriers to continue administrator’s duty there.

A full bench of the Appellate Division, headed by Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam, passed the order allowing the petition filed by Bangladesh Bank seeking withdrawal of the chamber judge order.

Bangladesh Bank (BB)'s lawyer B M Elias Kachee said there is currently no legal bar to perform duties of administrator at Nagad due to the order of the Appellate Division.

Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar and Barrister Nawshad Zamir represented the writ petitioner, while Additional Attorney General Anik R Haque appeared on behalf of the state.

Earlier, on May 7, the chamber judge of the Supreme Court had stayed the February 16 High Court (HC) verdict that upheld BB's decision to appoint an administrator at Nagad and also quashed a petition filed by its Director Md Shafayet Alam challenging the legality of the central bank's move.
