BRASILIA, Sept 12, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Defense lawyers for Brazil's former president Jair Bolsonaro said Thursday they will appeal, "including at the international level", his 27-year prison sentence for an attempted coup.

"The defense considers the sentences handed down to be incredibly excessive and disproportionate and... will file the appropriate appeals, including at the international level," according to a statement posted on social media by Bolsonaro's aide Fabio Wajngarten.
