
ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, KUSHTIA, Oct 24, 2025 (BSS) - The IEEE Islamic University (IU) branch in Kushtia concluded the International Conference on Computing, Application and System (COMPAS 2025) with great enthusiasm on October 24.
The two-day event, which began on Thursday, brought together researchers and academicians from across the globe.
The inauguration on the first day was held at the Bir Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman Central Auditorium, with Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah attending online as chief patron. Treasurer Professor Dr Jahangir Alam also served as a patron.
Technical sessions were conducted at the Ibn Sina Science Building.
On the second day, sessions continued at the Ibn Sina Science Building and concluded at Desha TARc in Kushtia. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah again attended as chief patron. The event was also attended by Chief Guest BPSC member Professor Dr M Sohel Rahman, special guests BUBT VC Professor Dr A B M Shawkat Ali, IU Engineering Faculty Dean Professor Dr Manjurul Haque, general guests including IEEE CS BDC Chair Professor Dr KM Azharul Hasan, IEEE CS BDC Past Chair Professor Dr Ahsan Habib Tareq, TPC Chair and IEEE CS BDC Chair-elect 2025 Professor Dr Obaidur Rahman, and Organizing Chair IU Central Laboratory Director Professor Dr Zahidul Islam.
The main technical tracks covered Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Quantum Computing, Network Security, Data Analytics, Computer Vision, and Algorithms. Out of 790 submitted papers, 264 were selected for presentation, contributed by 518 authors from 250 universities and research institutes across 26 countries. The conference was held in hybrid mode, allowing both in-person and virtual participation.
Technical support was provided by IEEE IU Student Branch, IEEE Computer Society IU Student Chapter, IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society IU Student Chapter, and the Students' Association of ICT (SAICT). The event was organized by the IEEE Computer Society Bangladesh Chapter in collaboration with IU's Central Laboratory, Department of ICT, and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
Keynote speakers included Associate Professor Dr Syed Mohammad Shamsul Islam of Edith Cowan University, Australia; Professor Dr Tariq Rahim Soomro, Rector of the Institute of Business Management, Karachi, Pakistan; Professor Dr M Mustafa Hussain of Purdue University, USA; and Professor Dr Abdur Razzaque, Chair of the CSE Department, University of Dhaka.
IEEE IU Branch Counsellor Professor Dr Zahidul Islam said, "COMPAS 2025 is a landmark event for Islamic University. For the first time in IU's history, we have hosted a full-scale international conference of this magnitude. It reflects our growing engagement with the global research community and provides a platform for knowledge exchange and innovation."
Keynote speaker Professor Dr Abdur Razzaque emphasized the importance of research and skill development, saying, "In this era of science and technology, rapid changes in computer science make research essential, especially as artificial intelligence reshapes the future."
IU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah expressed gratitude to the organizers, saying the conference marked "a milestone in the university's academic journey" and would "enhance IU's global collaboration in science and technology."
