18th Inter-Departmental Debate Competition begins tomorrow at JU

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Oct 27, 2025 (BSS) - The 18th Inter-Departmental 
Debate Competition 2025, organised by the Jahangirnagar University Debate 
Organisation (JUDO), will begin tomorrow along with the Freshers' Orientation 
and Debate Workshop for the 54th batch students.

JUDO President Mirza Saki made the announcement around 5:30 pm at a press 
conference in the conference room of the university's Teacher-Student Centre 
(TSC).

He said the first part of the event under the slogan "Let Words Be the Flag 
of Resistance" will begin tomorrow at 2 pm.

The workshop will feature debate sessions, public speaking, teacher-student 
debates, career development and cultural activities.

"At the start of the workshop, we're honored to welcome renowned actress and 
presenter Moushumi Mou, along with host and lawyer Manjur Al Matin," said 
JUDO President Mirza Saki. 

"Well-known debaters and organisers from JUDO will also be attending, and 
we've invited university administrators to join us to hold the event as 
well."

The Freshers' Orientation and Debate Workshop will be coordinated by Nazmul 
Warat Talha, a 52nd batch student of the Department of International 
Relations, and Shafiqul Islam, a 52nd batch student of the Department of 
Economics.

The 18th Inter-Departmental Debate Competition 2025 will be chaired by 
Sumaiya Islam Samiya, a 51st batch student of the Department of Accounting 
and Information Systems, and Pronoy Saha, a 52nd batch student of the 
Department of Fine Arts.

Mirza Saki also mentioned that the debate competition will take place at the 
Zahir Raihan Auditorium of the university.

The second part of the event will feature the 18th Inter-Departmental Debate 
Competition 2025, in which 37 departments of the university will participate, 
continuing the tradition of previous years.

The competition will include the Bangla Asian Parliamentary Debate on 
November 14, the English British Parliamentary Debate on November 15, and the 
closing ceremony on November 16 at the Selim Al Deen Muktamanch.

The entire event will be led by JUDO President Mirza Saki and its General 
Secretary Farim Ahsan.
