ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, Kushtia, Oct 29, 2025 (BSS) - Professor Dr. Sipon Miah has been appointed as the new chairman of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia.

An office order signed by acting registrar Prof Dr. Manjurul Haque confirmed the appointment.

According to the notice, Prof Dr. Sipon Miah was appointed to the post under the amended Section 10(1) of the university's first statute.

Replacing Prof Dr. Alamgir Hossain, he [Prof Dr. Sipon Miah] will serve at the Department for the next three years, it added.

A handover ceremony was also held at the Department where both the outgoing and newly-appointed chairmen were present. 

Students of the Department welcomed the new chairman and bid farewell to the former one.
