55th Management Day 2025 celebrated at DU

DHAKA, Oct 29, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka University's Management department has celebrated its 55th Management Day today.

The day began with the release of pigeons and decorative festoons, symbolizing peace and harmony. A vibrant rally from the Department of Management to the TSC saw enthusiastic participation from teachers, students, and alumni, turning the campus into a lively carnival. 

DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Sayema Haque Bidisha inaugurated the day-long event. The inaugural ceremony, a panel discussion, and the announcement of the Alumni Association followed at the TSC Auditorium. 

The discussion held at the TSC Auditorium and chaired by Management Department Chairman Professor Dr. Mohammad Tawfiqul Islam, featured distinguished guests including DU Pro-VC (Academic) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed and Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Dr. Sayma Haque Bidisha congratulated all on Management Day and highlighted the importance of effective management in every aspect of life. 

She urged the students of the Management Department to play an active role in promoting proper management in family, social, and national life. She also emphasized strengthening alumni networking and industry-academia collaboration. 

The discussion focused on modern education, entrepreneurship, research, and the impact of artificial intelligence. 

Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed said, "We envision the University of Dhaka as a future hub of research and innovation, where technology and human values will harmoniously coexist."

The panel included Faculty of Business Studies Dean Professor Dr. Mahmud Osman Imam, former Department Chairman Professor Md. Ali Akkas, and former BGMEA President Anwar-ul-Alam, who all took part in the discussion. The session was conducted by Assistant Professor Nur Nahar Yasmin. 

The afternoon session featured a prize-giving ceremony for Management Day competitions in the presence of DU treasurer Professor Dr. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury followed by an evening cultural program.

Students showcased their creativity through debates in regional dialects, songs, and dance performances, making the celebration both entertaining and memorable.
