DHAKA, Oct 29, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Sorkari Maddhomik Shikkhok Samity (BSMSS) has demanded the concerned authorities to reinstate written examinations for student admissions in government secondary schools instead of the current lottery system.

BSMSS leaders came up with the demand through a formal letter signed by Convener AKM Azad and Member Secretary Md. Abdul Mubeen, which was submitted to the Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division today.

In the letter, they said that the lottery system, introduced during the previous government, continues to govern student admissions in secondary schools and has drawn criticism from parents and students nationwide.

Reports in various media outlets have reflected widespread dissatisfaction, with stakeholders blaming the lottery system for jeopardizing students' future education, it added.

BSMSS stressed that reinstating the competitive written exams for all grades in secondary schools is necessary to ensure fairness, reduce uncertainty for students, and alleviate parental anxiety.

The association warned that failure to act could lead to unrest and instability in various parts of the country.

BSMSS called on the Education Ministry's 2026 Admission Committee to take immediate steps to prevent undesirable situations and restore confidence in the admission process.
