
RAJSHAHI, Nov 15, 2025 (BSS) - Citizen's Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh convener Debapriya Bhattacharya at a programme here today said the forthcoming parliamentary election has become a mandatory issue at present.
He said that it was necessary to include those reform promises in the election manifestos of political parties, the continuity of which the new government will maintain.
The economist came up with the comments while responding to questions from journalists after addressing a programme styled 'Pre-election regional consultation meeting' held by the Citizen's Platform at Brac Learning Centre in Rajshahi.
CPD Executive Director Dr Mustafizur Rahman and Pro-vice-chancellor of Rajshahi University Prof Farid Uddin Khan, among others, also spoke.
The Citizen's Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh (CPD) is currently engaged in a pre-election initiative to develop a comprehensive "Citizen's Manifesto".
Debapriya Bhattacharya added that they would prepare a citizen manifesto with the opinions of people from different regions in the country.
Earlier, in the open discussion session of the pre-election regional consultation meeting, leaders and representatives of different political parties, professional and social-cultural organisations, media personalities, platforms of human rights and women and underprivileged groups of Rajshahi expressed their opinions about what they expect to the government to be formed through the forthcoming national election.
Various issues, including security in all spheres of life, transparency and accountability, good governance, democracy, reformation, social protection and political stability, came up for discussion in the meeting.
