DMP files 1,597 cases against traffic rule violators

Dhaka, Nov 20, 2025 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed a total of 1,597 cases against motor vehicles and drivers for violating traffic rules in the capital over the past day.

The DMP has been conducting campaigns against traffic violations in the city to bring the traffic system under proper management, according to a statement from the DMP Media and Public Relations Division.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman issued the statement today.

It said 267 motor vehicles were impounded and 139 vehicles were immobilized during the campaign against traffic rule violations on November 18.

The DMP release added that several traffic divisions carried out the campaign across the capital.

According to the statement, the Motijheel Traffic Division filed 336 cases, Wari Division registered 155 cases, Tejgaon Division filed 168 cases, Mirpur Division filed 105 cases, Gulshan Division filed 260 cases, Uttara Division registered 277 cases, Ramna Division filed 119 cases, and Lalbagh Division registered 177 cases against motor vehicles, three-wheelers, and motorcycles.

The DMP further stated that the drive will continue to ensure discipline on Dhaka's streets.
