EU ambassador Michael Miller meets Jamaat Ameer

DHAKA, Jan 29, 2026 (BSS) – European Union (EU) Ambassador to Bangladesh Michael Miller paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Md Shafiqur Rahman at his office in the capital's Bashundhara area this morning. 

Ambassador Miller was accompanied by EU delegation first secretary for political affairs Sebastian Rieger-Brown, said a press release. 

The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to engage in an in-depth exchange on matters of shared interest, focusing on strengthening relations between Bangladesh and the European Union.

A key topic discussed was the upcoming national parliamentary elections in Bangladesh.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of ensuring a free, fair, and meaningful democratic process, which would reinforce democratic values in the country. 

They expressed optimism that the positive relationship between Bangladesh and the EU would continue to evolve, fostering mutual development and progress.
Jamaat Ameer was accompanied by its Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central publicity and Media Department Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, Central Executive Council Member Mobarak Hossain and Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Ameer Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan.
