NAOGAON, Jan 29, 2026 (BSS) - After a long gap of 20 years, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is coming here, energizing leaders and activists of the party and its affiliated organizations.
All preparations to welcome Tarique Rahman have already been completed at the Etim Math ground in the town.
Today, at 5:30 pm, Tarique Rahman will address an election rally as the chief guest at the Etim Math ground. A stage measuring 40 feet in length and 32 feet in width has been constructed there. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies have taken all necessary measures to ensure the security of the BNP chairman and his entourage.
Ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, Tarique Rahman’s presence has created widespread enthusiasm among the BNP leaders and activists across the district. Since morning, leaders and activists from various upazilas of this district and neighboring districts have been arriving at the rally venue. Gradually, the Etim Math ground is becoming vibrant with slogans and enthusiasm, with the attendance increasing over the time.
According to party sources, after concluding a rally at the historic Madrasa Maidan in Rajshahi at 2:00 pm, Tarique Rahman will join the Naogaon rally at 5:30 pm. After the Naogaon rally, he will proceed to Bogura, his ancestral home and election constituency. Local BNP leaders said that more than 200,000 people are expected to attend the Naogaon rally.
Around 11:30 am today, Jubo Dal leader Shaminur Rahman Shamim said at the Etim Math ground, “There can be no greater joy than being able to see Tarique Rahman. It would have felt even better if Khaleda Zia were alive. However, we believe that the country will move forward under the leadership of the future statesman, Tarique Rahman.”
BNP candidates for the Naogaon-5 (Sadar) constituency, Zahidul Islam Dhalu and for Naogaon-3, Fazle Huda Babul, said that Tarique Rahman’s arrival after a long time has created tremendous enthusiasm among grassroots leaders and activists. At this rally, candidates with the “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol from six constituencies in Naogaon and two constituencies in Joypurhat will be introduced, which will play an important role in the political arena and election campaigning.
Naogaon District BNP General Secretary Mamunur Rahman Ripon said that all kinds of preparations have been made centering the arrival of BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman.
“The entire district is immersed in joy and celebration centering on this rally. Leaders and activists are highly energized and delighted. From this rally, alongside the party’s electoral commitments and future political plans, issues related to the development of Naogaon will be presented to the people of the district,” he added.
