Ban on weapons, explosives and gatherings around JS area ahead of session

DHAKA, March 11, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on carrying all types of weapons, explosives, harmful materials and on holding meetings, rallies, processions and demonstrations in and around the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban ahead of the first session of the 13th National Parliament.

According to an official notice signed by Acting DMP Commissioner Md. Sarwar, the restriction has been imposed to maintain peace and order in the parliament area during the session scheduled to begin on March 12, 2026.

The order was issued under Sections 28 and 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance and came into effect from 12:00 midnight on Wednesday (March 11).

The restricted zone includes the area from Mohakhali Crossing on Mymensingh Road to Bangla Motor Crossing via the Old Airport Road; from the western end of Bangla Motor Link Road to the SAARC Fountain on Hotel Sonargaon Road; from the eastern end of Panthapath to the intersection of Green Road up to Farmgate; from Shyamoli intersection on Mirpur Road to the junction of Dhanmondi Road-16 (Old-27); from Rokeya Sarani to the old 9th Division (Airplane) Crossing to the tourism intersection of Bijoy Sarani; and from the eastern end of Indira Road to the western end of Manik Mia Avenue.

The reserved area of the National Parliament and all roads and alleys within these boundaries will also fall under the restriction.

The order will remain in force until the end of the first session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad.
